History of the Firm
Mr. Maney graduated from the University of Florida College of law in December of 1974 at the age of 24. He passed the Florida Bar and was licensed to practice by May 1, 1975, when he joined the firm of Billy R. Barr. At the Barr firm, Mr. Maney practiced in the fields of Personal Injury & Wrongful Death, Family Law, Corporate Law and Workers Compensation. By July 1, 1976, Mr. Maney left the Barr firm and established Richard Maney, P. A., the legacy firm to Maney | Gordon.
Thereafter, Mr. Maney formed a partnership with attorney George M. Stark and the firm became Maney & Stark, P. Al in 1977. The firm specialized in Immigration & Nationality law and Personal Injury Wrongful Death and the firm continued as Maney & Stark for thirteen years until Mr. Stark departed the firm in 1993. The firm then became Richard Maney & Associates, P. A.
Jeffrey L. “Jack” Gordon joined the firm in 1992 and became a shareholder in 1998 and the firm became Maney & Gordon, P. A. in 1999.
The firm opened its Orlando Florida office on November 10, 1997 and subsequently opened offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico, El Paso Texas, and St. Petersburg Florida in 2006, and New York New York in 2007, all by practice acquisition.
Attorney John V. A. Holmes joined the firm in Of Counsel capacity in 2003. Attorneys Melvyn Baron, Bernard Rosenbloom, Mark Weiner, and Robert Myers became Of Counsel to the firm in 2006. Attorney Mark Scher became Of Counsel in 2007.
