- Smoking cigarettes causes diseases including aortic aneurysms, bladder cancer, cerebrovascular disease, cervical cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary heart disease, esophageal cancer, kidney cancer, laryngeal cancer, lung cancer, oral cavity/tongue cancer, pancreatic cancer, periphreal vascular disease, pharyngeal cancer, stomach cancer and pregnancy complications.

- Nicotine in cigarettes is addictive.

- Tobacco companies marketed and sold cigarettes that were defective and unreasonably dangerous.

- The tobacco industry purposely ommited or concealed known information about the adverse health effects and addictive properties of smoking cigarettes.

- Tobacco companies intentionally misrepresented information about the adverse health effects and addictive properties of cigarettes.

- All of the defendant companies in the Engle v. Liggett Class Action lawsuit were negligent.
