Gabriela Salcido Monreal

Profile picture of Gabriela Salcido Monreal

Gabriela Salcido Monreal was born and raised in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. Gabriela is a Mexican Attorney and an American Attorney. She speaks full Spanish and is very fluent in English.

Gabriela comes from a family of attorneys, since her father and brother are attorneys, as well. Gabriela has always had a sense of justice in her heart and admired her father and mother for their hard work and commitment to the family and the community. While in High School, Gabriela decided she wanted to study a career where she could make a difference in people’s lives.

In 2005, she left Sonora and moved to Monterrey, Mexico, where she earned her Law Degree at the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (“Tec”). After graduation, she worked at the Corporate Legal office of the Tec, where she negotiated, revised and completed contracts and agreements on behalf of the Tec. After two years, Gabriela decided it was time to go back to Sonora and re-think her life plan. She always had the desire to study a Masters in the United States.

From 2012 to 2013 she studied the LL.M in International Trade and Business Law at the University of Arizona, in Tucson Arizona. After completing her LL.M, Gabriela enrolled in the Advanced JD program designed for foreign attorneys who wish to become Attorneys in the United States. Gabriela graduated from Law School in 2015. While on her second year of law school, Gabriela took a class in Immigration Law. The next semester she became a student advocate in her school’s immigration law clinic. Gabriela and her team worked the entire semester on a VAWA Self-Petition. The client’s petition was later approved and Gabriela remembers how great it felt to have helped her first client. While at the clinic, Gabriela also provided legal advice on other cases, under the supervision of the director of the clinic. During the summer of 2014, Gabriela got an internship in Southern Arizona Legal Aid, a non-profit organization that provides legal representation in the areas of Immigration Law, Family Law, Landlord-Tenant Law and Bankruptcy. Gabriela worked as an intern for the Consumer Housing Department, where she handled Landlord-Tenant cases and Bankruptcy Chapter 7 cases. Gabriela’s encounter with immigration did stop there. After graduating from Law School, she worked as a Law Fellow at the Community Law Group, a public interest law firm associated to the University of Arizona College of Law. As a law fellow, Gabriela represented clients before the Tucson Immigration Court on two Asylum cases. The Judge granted both Asylums. Gabriela will never forget the hard work and time she and her clients dedicated to the cases, but at the same time, she knew she wanted to make immigration law her main practice as a lawyer. While at the Community Law Group, Gabriela prepared a VAWA-Self Petition and a Special Immigrant Juvenile Status Petition. In addition to immigration law, Gabriela assisted her supervisor with Family Law cases, to include: Child Custody disputes, Child Support and Spousal Support.

After 6 years of living in Tucson, Arizona, Gabriela decided it was time for a change, including moving to a new city. She moved to Albuquerque and started working at Maney, Gordon, Zeller PA in June of 2018.

Gabriela’s main objective as an attorney is to continue to contribute to the welfare of her clients and the community as she continues to learn and gain experience every day. Gabriela embraces change and exposure to multicultural backgrounds. Gabriela also enjoys dancing and traveling. In her free time, she enjoys reading a good novel and talking to her family back in Mexico.
