Executive Action Awareness Campaign

Executive Action Awareness Campaign

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of State (DOS) have launched an awareness campaign to clarify the criteria for filing requests for deferred action under the executive actions recently announced by the President.

The national and international outrach is titled "Executive Action on Immigration: Know the Facts," which details the the eligibility requirements for requesting deferred action. In a joint effort with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), the agencies will (1) inform undocumented immigrants in the U.S. and in Central America who qualifies for DAPA, (2) dissuade family members living stateside form supporting illegal family migration, (3) dissuade the Mexican and Central American public from illegally migrating to the U.S.

The campaign includes TV and radio public service announcements throughout Mexico and Central America, English and Spanish language media in the U.S., information on the agencies web pages, and a social media campaign.

In other news; since California is allowing undocumented persons to apply for driver licenses, the DMV reported that 46,200 immigrants have applied already. Of the immigrants who took the driver license test last Friday, 54% took the test in English and passed and 36% took it in Spanish. The California DMV expects a total of 1.4 million applicants.
