Profile picture of Marife Nazario-Yordan

Marifé is excited to be joining the MGZ team as Managing Attorney for the Orlando office. Marifé brings with her over 16 years of collective experience in EB-5 law, business immigration, corporate and commercial law, and corporate, commercial and real estate transactions. In recent years, Marifé has specialized in the complex area of EB-5 immigration, representing regional center clients, private equity funds and individual foreign investors in all aspects of EB-5 representation. She also has extensive experience representing foreign investors and entrepreneurs through complex E-1 treaty trader and E-2 treaty investor petitions, L blanket and individual L petitions (including new office cases), as well as experience with most types of immigrant and nonimmigrant visa petitions across a variety of industries, including science, business, manufacturing and technology, the equine industry, and students, professors, scholars and researchers, among others.

Within the EB-5 field, Marifé has extensive experience with EB-5 capital work and has represented some of the largest and most successful USCIS-designated Regional Centers and national real estate developers. With a background spanning over eight years of experience as a corporate, securities and real estate attorney and an additional four years of business immigration law, Marifé is well suited to represent regional center and new commercial enterprise clients in this complex, hybrid and ever-evolving area of the law. She regularly assists clients in seeking initial USCIS Regional Center designation, preparing and filing I-924 petitions and amendments, exemplar requests and annual filings, as well as preparing I-526 templates and reviewing EB-5 offering and other project documents to ensure EB-5 compliance and eligibility. Additionally, Marifé regularly presents individual investors through all phases of the EB-5 petition process, including the tracing and documenting of lawful source of funds and the preparation and filing of individual I-526 and I-829 petitions.

Prior to joining MGZ, Marifé worked as an Attorney within the EB-5 and Investors and Entrepreneurs practice of a renowned California law firm and ran her own EB-5, business immigration and corporate practice for a few years. She also led the Business Immigration practice of a large Midwest-based firm, where she represented private and public employers with respect to all their business immigration and related family immigration needs, and regularly advised and trained on I-9 employer verification procedures, compliance and audits. In recent years, Marifé has been a frequent speaker on EB-5 topics, including the use of the EB-5 Program as a tool for economic development in Puerto Rico, as well as some other business immigration and I-9 compliance topics. In earlier years, Marifé served as Assistant Vice President and Legal Counsel to Visa, Inc. and worked as Senior Associate in the General Business, Corporate Finance and Real Estate departments of various national and international law firms.

Marifé has practiced law since early 2001, after obtaining an LL.M. degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of London, a JD degree from Tulane Law School (with a Certificate in European Legal Studies) and a B.A. from Duke University. During her years at Tulane, Marifé served as Managing Editor of the Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law and studied Comparative Constitutional Law under Chief Justice William Rehnquist in Siena, Italy. Upon graduating from law school, Marifé clerked one summer with Soulier et Associés in Lyon, France, having previously clerked for the Chief and Presiding Judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District.

Marifé is licensed to practice law in Florida, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Puerto Rico. She was born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and was raised in Puerto Rico. She has studied, worked and lived in Puerto Rico, Spain, France and Italy and has traveled extensively. She is fluent in Spanish, French and English, and proficient in Italian and Portuguese. Based on her multi-cultural sensitivity and international background, Marifé has developed an affinity for immigrants and loves working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. She joins MGZ with a spirit of excitement and confidence in her ability to add some value to MGZ and its clients, accompanied by an eagerness to learn from the MGZ team and their numerous and diverse experiences.
