Profile picture of Stephen J. Antwine

Stephen joined Bagia & Associates, PC in June of 2015. He has extensive immigration experience having represented clients before the Board of Immigration Appeals and Immigration Courts in Philadelphia, Baltimore, York, Arlington, Dallas and Atlanta. He brings a diverse legal background and has worked with immigrant communities in Ohio, Nebraska and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Antwine started his career with the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland where he served as a staff attorney from 2006-2008. During his time there, he advocated for victims of domestic violence and represented low income clients in divorce, custody and housing matters.

Mr. Antwine entered private practice with a general litigation firm in Crete, Nebraska in 2008. Because of the growing immigrant community there, he was frequently appointed by the County to defend Spanish speaking clients in juvenile and felony criminal cases. He also represented clients in personal injury cases, landlord-tenant disputes, divorce and custody.

In 2010, Mr. Antwine relocated to Pennyslvania and began representing families facing mortgage foreclosure and eviction on behalf of MidPenn Legal Services in Reading, Pennsylvania. He has represented clients in trials before the Court of Common Pleas and argued before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

Most recently, he worked with a suburban Philadelphia immigration firm. His focus at the firm was immigration litigation, and he represented detained and non-detained clients seeking immigration benefits. He has litigated cases involving asylum, withholding of removal, protection under the Convention Against Torture, and cancellation of removal for permanent residents and non-permanent residents. He has filed various Board of Immigration Appeal cases and prepared federal appellate litigation.

Mr. Antwine holds an undergraduate degree in international studies from American University in Washington, DC, where he studied both Spanish and Russian. He is a 2006 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law. While in law school, he participated in two national competitions as a member of Moot Court and served as a student editor for Human Rights Quarterly.

Mr. Antwine is a former Peace Corps volunteer in Kazakhstan, and lived in Spain as a Rotary exchange student. He is proficient in Spanish and conversant in Russian. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Chester County Bar Association.
